The Bossier City Police Department is conducting a safety checkpoint sometime today or tonight, May 30, 2012.

It will be at a location south of  I-20 in Bossier City. That's all the information we could drag out of them.

Police will be looking mostly for drivers who don't have on their seat belt or don’t have children placed in required safety seats.

There won't be any warnings given, (can't make money off those) just citations.

I wonder if they'll let you slide on by if you have your seat belt on and Junior all secure without asking to see your drivers license?

And that inspection sticker that expired 3 months ago, surely they'll let that go, since they are just checking for seat belts and child safety seats, right?

It's about safety and saving lives, not making money ain't it?

Surely the thought of making money off of it has never entered their minds because it's funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.

It says on the NHTSA website, "Click It or Ticket (CIOT) is the most successful seat belt enforcement campaign ever."

I'm thinking that our timing might be just a tad bit off here in Louisiana because it also says, "Every year during the annual Memorial Day Weekend holiday period, law enforcement agencies join forces day and night, from coast-to-coast, for an enforcement blitz that delivers on our message Click It or Ticket. The mobilization is supported by national and local paid advertising and earned media campaigns aimed at raising awareness before the blitz."

I never was good at math but hasn't the Memorial Day Weekend ended already?
