Four Teenagers Arrested for Armed Robbery
Four teenagers are now in police custody after they allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of a local business.
The incident happened at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday as the victim sat in her car in the parking lot of the Thrifty Liquor store in the 5500 block of East Texas Street. The victim reported that four male juveniles approached her when one of them produced a handgun. The juveniles attempted to take the victim’s car but were unable to start it. They ended up taking the victim’s mobile phone and fled the scene on foot. The victim was not injured.
Responding patrol officers were able to quickly take the 12-year old suspect into custody Wednesday night however they were unable to locate the three others despite an extensive search of the area. The 14-year old suspect turned himself over to Bossier City Police late Thursday afternoon.
An investigation found the four suspects had run away from the Johnny Gray Jones Youth Shelter in the 4800 block of Shed Road just over an hour before committing the armed robbery. From there they went to the Villaggio Apartments in the 5200 block of East Texas Street where they stole a handgun from an unlocked vehicle and then walked to the Thrifty Liquor Store where they robbed the victim.
The 12 and 14-year old suspects were booked into the Wade Juvenile Detention Center in Coushatta on armed robbery and simple burglary charges. Detectives with the BCPD’s Violent Crimes Unit obtained arrest warrants for the two other suspects, identified as 16-year-olds Marcus Coleman, of Crowley, Louisiana and Giovantay Punch, of Shreveport.
Coleman and Punch were taken into custody late Thursday night and were booked into the Wade Juvenile Detention Center on the same charges as the juveniles.
