A day before full squad work-outs began, Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington revealed his first lineup.

Lineups are almost always a work in progress, but Washington said the first five batters are set in stone.

Newly acquired Shin-Soo Choo will lead off followed by shortstop Elvis Andrus.

The Rangers biggest acquisition, Prince Fielder, will bat third and Adrian Beltre will continue to bat clean-up. Alex Rios will hit in the five hole.

Mitch Moreland will DH in sixth spot, followed by catcher Geovany Soto, then Jurickson Profar. Leonys Martin will round out the order.

So, barring any injuries or mind-change by Washington, your Texas Ranger lineup for the March 31 season opener will look like this.

  1. Shin-Soo Choo - LF
  2. Elvis Andrus - SS
  3. Prince Fielder - 1B
  4. Adrian Beltre - 3B
  5. Alex Rios - RF
  6. Mitch Moreland - DH
  7. Geovany Soto - C
  8. Jurickson Profar - 2B
  9. Leonys Martin - CF

The lineup offers a great mix of left-handed and right-handed hitters.  You also have heavy hitting Adrian Beltre protecting the big bat of Prince Fielder. This already looks like it could be the most formidable lineup in the American League.
