Rangers Update: Moreland Signed, Holland Close to Returning

The Texas Rangers and Mitch Moreland have agreed to a one-year, $2.65 million contract for the 2014 season, avoiding an arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Wednesday.

More Ranger news… second baseman Jurickson Profar has been cleared to begin a throwing program at spring training, but will still not be ready to play the infield at the start of the exhibition schedule.

Pitcher Derek Holland’s return to spring training has been pushed back another week to run scans on his surgically repaired knee. He’s expected back around March 1st.
