PTSA President Arrested for Stealing Funds from Organization
The president of the Herndon Magnet Parent-Teacher-Student Association has been arrested for stealing money from the group.
In August 2016, an auditor with the Caddo Parish School Board filed a theft report with the Caddo Sheriff’s Office after a periodic audit revealed missing money from the school’s PTSA for the 2015-2016 school year.
During an investigation by Sheriff’s Detective Doug Smith, the PTSA president, 47-year-old Vera Dunfey, was contacted and interviewed. Smith said Dunfey was primarily responsible for handling the PTSA funds and that her personal bank records reflected $4,230 in association money was deposited into her account over the 2015-2016 school year.
Dunfey, of Shreveport, was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for theft.
