The New Orleans Pelicans have exercised the team option on center Jahlil Okafor on Thursday on which may be one of the biggest days in Pelicans history with the 2019 NBA Draft just hours away. He'll make $1.7M this season.

Okafor had a surprisingly solid year last year in New Orleans as he's trying to jumpstart his career after he was taken 3rd overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Last year Jahlil averaged eight points and five rebounds playing extended minutes later in the season after Anthony Davis requested a trade. Will he be the starting center come opening night for the Pels? That's yet to be seen but if he continues to work on his game and improve like we saw last season he could be a very useful player in a season dripping with intrigue and anticipation.
