Paul McCartney to Star in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’
Even though filming on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has already wrapped, word is that the filmmakers reconvened to shoot one more scene. And apparently it's a big set piece starring Paul McCartney.
According to Deadline, the movie -- the fifth in the series starring Johnny Depp as pirate Captain Jack Sparrow, and which is scheduled to open in May 2017 -- has added a new scene to make room for McCartney.
There's no official word on whom the former Beatle will play in the movie. Deadline reports only that McCartney "quietly has joined the cast of the film."
One of McCartney's fellow British Invasion contemporaries, Keith Richards, starred in two of the franchise's previous outings -- 2007's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, playing Jack Sparrow's swashbuckling father.
Depp has famously acknowledged that he built Jack Sparrow's boozy, slurring personality on Richards' own boozy, slurring personality. The actor recently took part in the Hollywood Vampires supergroup with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, a project that also included a contribution by McCartney, who added vocals to a cover of his "Come and Get It."
McCartney, meanwhile, is about ready to hit the road again for another round of tour dates. One on One will launch in Fresno, Calif., on April 13.
