The largest trophy in college athletics resides in Nacogdoches, Texas. It's name is Chief Caddo and every football season, Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin play for it.  They'll be playing for it this Saturday at 1pm in Natchitoches.

SFA has kept Chief Caddo for the last four seasons in Nacagdoches.  The school's longest streak in the rivalry.  For the first time in the history of the "Battle for Chief Caddo," the seniors of Northwestern State have not housed "Caddo" during their tenure.  First year head coach Jay Thomas says it's important to him to show his seniors some appreciation by winning the game on Saturday and putting Caddo back in the Athletics Field House at Turpin Stadium.

I got a chance to talk with Coach Thomas on Thursday about the rivalry game and the outgoing seniors.

When searching for photos of Chief Caddo on Instagram, you'll only find pics hashtagged with #SFA as the Lumberjacks have had him for the last four years.
