LSU Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron shed more light on the status of linebacker Michael Divinity on today's teleconference call with the media.

Divinity returned to practice this week after two weeks away from the team for "personal reasons".

Many speculated the "personal reasons" were a suspension.

"I think the suspension for Michael (Divinity) was a wake-up call," Tigers linebacker Jacoby Stevens said on Monday.

Regardless of why Divinity left the team, or why he did not play in two of the first three games for what Orgeron called a "coaching decision", the talented 6'2, 241 pound senior will only see the field again this season if the LSU is playing in the National Championship game.

"No, he will not be eligible (for next 2 games or SEC title game)," explained Orgeron today when asked about Divinity's playing status. "Eligibility would come after a Bowl if there would be another Bowl. If there'd be a (national) championship game, maybe he may be eligible for that. Up until then, Mike will not be eligible to play."

Divinity is a key piece to (defensive coordinator) Dave Aranda's defense and led the team in sacks before temporarily "leaving" the team a few weeks ago.

Undefeated LSU (10-0) is #1 in both Top 25 polls, and more importantly, the college football playoff rankings.

If the Tigers win out, they will procure a spot in the College Football Playoff, where they would have an opportunity in the Fiesta or Peach Bowl to win and advance to the National Championship Game in New Orleans on January 13th.

Even if LSU loses a game over the next 3 weeks, there's still a strong chance the Tigers could get a bid to the College Football Playoffs based on their entire body of work in 2019.
