LSU senior associate athletic director for NCAA compliance Bo Bahnsen said Monday that, "Tyrann Mathieu cannot return to the LSU football team at any time in the future."

Bahnsen went on to say, "He's permanently ineligible to play football at LSU, that's definite. That's what was said Friday."

That's the same thing LSU football coach Les Miles said Friday when he announced the dismissal of Mathieu. An insider told USA TODAY Sports that he was kicked off the team for repeated positive drug tests revealing marijuana.

Coach Miles and other LSU officials are not at liberty to say the exact reason why Mathieu was dismissed from the team due to student-athlete privacy laws.
