What a night in Baton Rouge! The Tigers played their final game at the friendly confines of Alex Box Stadium (but, they will in all likelihood play tournament games there) for this season. But before the Tigers shut out the lights, there were of fireworks.

Let's start in the bottom of the 3rd inning, with the Tigers losing 3-0, junior first baseman Mason Katz started a big rally with a run scoring double, then designated hitter Jackson Slaid and powerful left fielder Raph Rhymes both plated a runner each, finally second baseman Jacoby Jones sent a couple home. After all this the Tigers sent 5 runners home, giving them a 5-3 advantage over the Nicholls State Colonels.

Mason Katz did it again in the bottom of the 6th inning when he hit a three-run home run into the left field pavilion, giving the Tigers an 8-2 lead. Senior third baseman Tyler Hanover extended it with an RBI single, giving the Tigers the 9-2 lead in the 6th!

In the top of the 9th, the Colonels did not want the game to end! They were able to plate 4 runs, before LSU closer Nick Goody struck out the final two batters of the inning. This win gives the LSU Tigers their 40th win of the season, the ninth time since 1992 the Tigers had 40 wins in a season!

The Tigers next head to South Carolina on Thursday, to face the Gamecocks in the final three games of the regular season. You can hear the game right here on The Home of the Legends and LSU AM 1130 KWKH!
