Local High School Teams Advance in LHSAA Playoffs

There were several LHSAA Football Playoff games in the area last night. Check out the scores and recaps here.

5A #2 Parkway impressed with a 41-7 win over Captain Shreve.  The Panthers will play #15 East St. John on the road next week.  Parkway incurred an LHSAA penalty and will play all their playoff games on the road this season.

5A #19 Airline was blown out by #14 Covington 48-13.

5A #13 Ruston won over Natchitoches Central 35-7.  The Bearkats will travel to #4 Destrehan next week.

5A #17 Haughton suffered the most heart-wrenching loss on Friday, losing 56-55 in overtime at #16 Ponchatoula after missing an Extra Point attempt.

There were no Select Division I games in the area this weekend.  No. 2 seed Byrd received a first round bye.  The Yellow Jackets will host No. 10 Archbishop Shaw next weekend.  You'll hear the game here on 1130 the Tiger.

Select Division II No. 4 seed Evangel survived a scare from No. 13 Loyola Prep and moved on after winning 59-23.  The Eagles will play No. 5 St. Thomas More next week.

In the 4A bracket, No. 10 Northwood defeated No. 23 Benton 23-7.  The Falcons have only one loss on the season and will play at No. 7 Franklinton next week.

No. 26 Fair Park's special season ended at the hands of Franklinton.  The Indians lost 50-12.

No. 20 North Desoto pulled off the only upset in the 4A bracket, beating No. 13 Rayne on the road 15-13.  The Griffins will host No. 4 East Jefferson.

No local games this week in the Select Division III playoffs.  No. 2 Calvary Baptist had a first round bye and will host No. 10 Opelousas Catholic.

In 3A, No. 22 Mansfield lost 46-6 to No. 11 Kaplan.

No. 18 North Webster upset No. 15 Iowa 38-20.  The Knights will host No. 2 Caldwell Parish next week.

In 2A, No. 12 Lakeside was upset 28-12 by No. 21 Northeast.

No. 13 Red River won 27-12 over South Plaquemines.  The Bulldogs will play No. 4 Welsh next week.

In the 1A bracket, La. New Tech at Plain Dealing moved on to the second round after routing Ringgold 52-14.  The Lions will play No. 4 Basile.
