For most of this season the two men's teams have been stalking one another, destroying foe after foe, always focused on the task at hand but occasionally looking over their shoulder at one another's games.

Now comes the epic fight, the heavyweight clash.

Nick Saban is 44-5 in his last 49 games, but he's only 2-2 against Les Miles. Meanwhile, Les is seeking a second national title that is entirely of his own making. The two men have the best teams two teams in the country. In head-to-head contests, they're completely even.
Kickoff it set for 7 p.m. in a sold out Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

LSU and Alabama bring identical records of 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play into the contest. Both teams have won all of their games this year by double figures. Dating back to last year, LSU has won a school-record nine straight games by double digits.

"We're rounding into the back end of the week and we've had a good week of work," LSU coach Les Miles said following Wednesday's practice. "Our guys have practiced hard putting in the game plan. I told the team that I wanted them to prepare their thoughts at practice today and make sure that they practice how they plan to play on Saturday. It was like a rehearsal."

Saturday's contest will have the Tiger offense going against an Alabama defense that is allowing just six points per game and 180 total yards a contest. LSU's defense is allowing just 11 points and 251 total yards a game.

"Anytime you line up against a quality defense, you are going to have to work to get your yards," Miles said. "We've been in enough games to understand that. Nobody's going to lose their poise. This will be a tremendously competitive game, and both teams certainly want to play well."
