It's been awhile, er, how about never for the New York Mets since a no-hitter was thrown in the 50 year history of the franchise.

The script could not have been written any better, 33 year old Johan Santana who missed all of the 2011 baseball season recovering from a shoulder surgery doing something that neither he nor the Mets have ever done (if my math is correct, that 8,019 games), throw a no-no!

In all, Santana issued five walks, and a near hit in the top of the 6th inning to Cardinals' center fielder (and former Met) Carlos Beltran hit a ball down the left field line that clearly hit the chalk on the field, that was ruled a foul ball.

What do you think:

Finally, in the top of the 9th inning, Santana struck out David Freese to end the ballgame and secure his spot in history!

All Santana was able to say after his effort, "Amazing." I agree with him!
