Minden I-20 Lane Closures for Roadwork to Impact Commute Tomorrow
A little over two years ago, it was determined that the 63-year-old LA 531 bridge over I-20 in Minden was in dire need of replacement.

While work on this $19.3 million project is nearing its scheduled completion late this summer, it would appear there are still a few hurdles that drivers in the area will need to jump.
One of those obstacles will come as early as tomorrow, Tuesday, July 8, when the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced they will need to close the outside (right) lanes of both I-20 eastbound and westbound at the LA 531 overpass.
These lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 7:30 am to 5:00 pm for this one day only, and are necessary to allow for construction activities related to the ongoing LA 531 overpass replacement project.
Traffic is currently flowing over the newly constructed LA 531 bridge, and the old structure has since been removed. The contractor is working on paving operations for the two roundabouts located at the interstate ramps that are included as part of the project.
The inside lanes of both I-20 eastbound and westbound will be maintained at 16 feet wide to allow oversize loads to pass through the work zone.
Of course, this work will be performed weather permitting, so inclement weather could postpone, extend or alter the scheduled work days/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
