Former LSU QB Inducted Into College Football Hall of Fame
One of the greatest players in LSU history will forever be recognized as one of the greatest College Football players of all time.
Bert Jones went to high school in Ruston, and earned the nickname "The Ruston Rifle" for his play at quarterback. He went on to play his college football in Baton Rouge, where he went on to have a phenomenal career at LSU.
Outside of Louisiana, he's remembered as a second overall pick in the NFL Draft, who won the 1976 NFL MVP Award for the Baltimore Colts. Multiple NFL experts and analysts have gone on record saying that if Jones was playing in today's NFL era, he would go down in history as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
At least now, he will be recognized as one of the greatest college players of all time. Here's more from the Louisiana Radio Network:
"In New York last week, Former LSU quarterback Bert Jones was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Jones finished fourth in Heisman voting in 1972, and left the Tigers as the school’s all time leader in passing yardage and touchdown passes. He’s better known nationally for being the Colts star QB who won the NFL’s MVP in back to back seasons in the 70s. Jones is LSU’s 11th addition to the College Football Hall of Fame."
