NFL teams are making massive cuts this weekend to get their rosters down to 53 players before the season kicks off. The Dallas Cowboys are one of a handful of teams who are dancing around their cuts, because they have holdouts to worry about too.

The Cowboys are still playing chicken with Ezekiel Elliott in his contract holdout. But that didn't stop Dallas from cutting a running back in their first round of cuts.

This morning, CBS Sports put out the first round of Dallas Cowboys cuts, here they are:

K Kasey Redfern, S George Iloka, LB Justin Phillips, S Jameill Showers, RB Darius Jackson, WR Reggie Davis, OL Jake Campos, TE Marcus Lucas, TE Codey McElroy

Not that 25-year-old Darius Jackson was expected to be a contributor in the Cowboys backfield, even with Elliott holding out, it was still a little shocking to see RB listed among the first round of cuts. Jackson has played 4 games, split 50/50 between the Cowboys and Green Bay Packers, in his career.
