That headline might be a little premature, Dirk Nowitzki might not be retiring after this season, but if you asked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver...this will be it.

Silver spoke to Yahoo Sports about Nowitzki, and his special selection for this year's All Star Game. Here's a bit of what Yahoo Sports said:

"The NBA commissioner gave reporters a candid look into his thought process when asked about Nowitzki’s nod alongside Dwyane Wade a special selection for the All-Star Game.

“In the case of Dirk Nowitzki, I saw him painfully running up and down the court, and I think it was clear that this was going to be his last season,” Silver said. “And it just seemed like a wonderful opportunity to honor two greats.”

Ouch.

Silver’s perception of pain and Nowitzki’s experience of it are apparently at odds"

So if this is going to be Dirk's last go, we made a pretty solid push during the NBA All Star 3-Point contest.

Dirk didn't win the contest, that went to Joe Harris of the Brooklyn Nets, but just seeing Dirk get a chance to show off on the big stage one more time was pretty legit. So whether or not this is his last season, "thank you" to Adam Silver for making it happen.
