It's not a bowl game many LSU Tiger players and fans hoped for, but the players and coaches were fortunate to play this post-season unlike several other teams.
The Clemson Tigers closed out their regular season with a victory over the LSU Tigers.
Regardless of the way the season went, this is the hand the Tigers were dealt: a match with a Clemson team with an identical record.
But the LSU Tigers played like a true national champion tonight.
1st quarter
The Tigers came out of the gate ready to score. Less than a minute after kickoff, with 14:05 on the clock, Jeremy Hill rushed 17 yards for the first score of the game.
Clemson's Tahj Boyd answers back with an 11 yard touchdown of his own, with 9:46 on the clock.
1st quarter score: Tied at 7
2nd quarter
LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger continues his hot play as he connected with Jarvis Landry for a 6 yard touchdown.
Clemson quarterback Tahj Boyd was at it again, this time letting his receiver DeAndre Hopkins do the work. Hopkins caught an 11 yard pass for a touchdown.
But, the LSU Tigers were able to enter the locker room at the half with the lead as the extra point was blocked.
Score at the end of the 2nd quarter: 14-13 LSU
3rd quarter
LSU's Jeremy Hill was able to avoid tackles and run a long distance to the end zone for a 57 yard touchdown.
After a failed touchdown attempt, LSU kicker Drew Alleman was able to add to the lead kicking a field goal that was able to split the uprights.
Score at the end of the 3rd quarter: 24-13 LSU
4th quarter
After failing to go anywhere near the end zone, Clemson Tigers' kicker Chandler Cantanzaro made a field goal from 26 yards out.
Tahj Boyd wanted to get Clemson closer in this contest, and he did. Boyd's pass to DeAndre Hopkins for a 12 yard touchdown was complete. The 2 point conversion to tie the game was no good.
Clemson was able to make a last second field goal, to sink the hearts of the LSU Tigers' faithful
