In perhaps the biggest upset so far in the LHSAA boys high school basketball playoffs, the No. 3 Byrd Yellow Jackets were upset by the No. 30 seeded Ouachita Lions 76-73.

The Jackets' Kory Ashley led with 23 points. Chad Lott scored 22 points in Friday night's contest. Senior David Holmes had 10 points and four key blocks in the game, and Malek Waldron scored 11.

Byrd led most of the game, including a 56-50 lead at the opening of the fourth quarter. But, Ouachita's D’Majia Richard stormed back to score five consecutive points to tie the game at 60-60 with 5 minutes left in the game.

Ouachita would eventually lead 68-64 with under three minutes remaining.

Following Byrd's brief 73-72 lead with 41 seconds left, the Lions forced a turnover and scored to give Ouachita the 74-73 lead.

The Jackets finish the season with a 27-6 record, the best since the 2000-2001 season.
