By a Small Lead, LSU Wins in a Big Way!
Today's game was a contest the Fightin' Tigers HAD to win! If not, they would see themselves not win a SEC championship, and be forced to play their tournament games on the road, instead of being able to play their games at Alex Box in Baton Rouge!
Let's take a look on exactly what happened!
Let's start in the top of the 10th inning, where the Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks are tied 1-1 Jackson Slaid who has the important role of pinch hitting, hit a ball to right field to bring home Jordy Snikeris to give the Tigers the lead, 2-1!
Tigers first baseman Mason Katz wanted to have his input in this game and hit a pitch into center field to extend the LSU lead over South Carolina to 3-1 in the top of the 10th!
The Gamecocks would not go down without a fight in possibly their final inning of the regular season! After an error in center field to put a Gamecock runner on base, South Carolina first baseman Christian Walker hit a sacrifice fly ball into the outfield to bring home a runner, reducing LSU's lead to 3-2.
Then, third baseman LB Dantzler hit a pop fly ball to right, which ended the ballgame, and at the time gave LSU a share of the SEC regular season championship!!
UPDATE: Both Florida and Kentucky have lost their baseball games, the LSU Tigers is now the lone SEC champions!! This is their 15th in school history!
The first game of the SEC tournament will be on Wednesday from Hoover, Alabama. The time as well as the team they will play first, is to be announced.
Be sure to follow the Tigers all the way to Omaha on The Home of the Legends and LSU AM 1130 KWKH!
