Horror Movie Legend Shares Shreveport Filming Memories Online
Shreveport has a hard time letting go of the film industry history, and for good reason. There have been some incredible projects filmed here, some tremendous actors and actresses that have worked here, and productions that have made some serious money. Not to mention that the filming industry in Shreveport was a huge boost to the economic landscape.
So with positive morale boosts, and financial gains, its understandable why Shreveport wants to hang on to the filming history. Its also why people are fighting so hard to get someone like Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson to bring a production company to town.
Are Shreveporters The Only Ones That Remember The Filming Boom Era?
But the people of Shreveport aren't the only ones who have great memories of the filming industry taking over Shreveport.
This week, horror movie legend Bill Moseley took to social media to share some of his memories of filming in Shreveport. His story came from the summer of 2011, when he was part of the cast filming another chapter to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, Texas Chainsaw 3-D.
So What Did Bill Moseley Post On His Social Media?
In the post, Moseley said:
"We shot TCM 3-D outside Shreveport, Louisiana, in the summer of 2011, and of course it was incredibly hot and humid. Every day, my fat suit quickly swelled with my sweat, and it felt like i was wearing a flak jacket. I loved hanging with Gunnar, Marilyn and John, loved that the production had recreated the Sawyer house on some military property outside Shreveport. I remember lying at the foot of the stairs, covered with blood and chicken feathers, the crew stepping over me to set up the next shot, thinking what a long strange trip it had been from being shocked by the original Chainsaw in a Combat Zone movie theater in Boston back in 1975 (on the tail end of a double bill with Enter the Dragon), and here I was, now a full-fledged Sawyer and happy to be home!"
Moseley was no stranger to the Texas Chainsaw series when he got to Shreveport, in fact, that was the point of his post (sorry Shreveport). He started in the series in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, where he played Chop Top. That was back in 1986. Since then, Moseley has expanded his horror movie credentials in films like The Blob, Night of the Living Dead (1990), Army of Darkness, House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, Halloween (2007), and many...many more.
Why Does This Matter To Shreveport Residents Today?
The fact that a horror movie legend is ready and willing to share his Shreveport memories on social media should keep the hope alive. The hope that those in the industry remember, and could be open to returning if the industry ever lifts off again.
