The Pelicans had as large as a 20 point lead in the fourth quarter over the Golden State Warriors in Game Three of the quarterfinals series between the two. That meant, the Pelicans were able to close out Golden State, right? Wrong. The Warriors come back to win 123-119 in overtime. The Warriors’ Steph Curry nailed a game tying three in the closing seconds of regulation to send the two to overtime. In the extra period, the Warriors went on an 11-5 run, to leave the Smoothie King Center with a 3-0 series lead. Before last night’s win, the Warriors were 0-365 in games where they trailed by twenty or more in the fourth quarter. This was the third largest fourth quarter come back in NBA playoff history. The LSU Tigers get a big win over fellow SEC West frontrunner, Texas A&M, 4-3! Danny Zardon, who wasn’t listed on LSU’s roster last week, due to the Tigers needing an extra pitcher, hit the walkoff single to scored Jared Foster in the bottom of the 9th, to send LSU one game above the Aggies in the SEC West standings. LSU lead 3-2 in the top of the inning, before closer Jesse Stallings blew the save. Aggies up 2-0 in the fourth, Andrew Stevenson and Chris Chinea each had an RBI. Playoff softball: Evangel’s season ends after falling 10-4 to Parkview Baptist in Baton Rouge. The Lady Eagles’ Leanna Cooper had a triple, and had two RBI, but it wasn’t enough. Castor, Florien and Stanley each win.

 

High school baseball: Airline defeats Parkway 7-1. Shreve over Southwood 9-7. Byrd over Haughton 8-4. Benton edges North DeSoto 2-1. And, Lakeside over North Caddo 8-1.

 

Parkway track star Sara Funderburk named the District 1-5A track MVP yesterday, after winning the 800, 1600, and 3200, according to the Shreveport Times
