It's a fresh start for the Northwestern Demons football program after last season when they finished 4-7 (2-5 Southland Conference).

The Demons are now setting their sights on a Southland Conference title.

In the off-season, the NSU Demons revamped their program.

The Demons got a new head coach, Jay Thomas, and 10 new players to add to the depth chart.

One of those 10 players include the newest starting quarterback for NSU, Zack Adkins.

Adkins arrives in Northwest Louisiana from Southern California, where he was the starting quarterback for Riverside Community College.

He completed 67 percent of his passes, while throwing for 2,744 yards and 28 touchdowns. Adkins led that team to a 9-2 record and was third in the state of California among junior college quarterbacks with a completion percentage of 66.8.

The Northwestern State Demons will kickoff their season in Springfield, Missouri where they will take on Missouri State on Thursday, August 29.
