The Grambling Tigers snapped an 18-game losing streak when they defeated Mississippi Valley State on Saturday afternoon in Grambling.

Grambling Nation was overjoyed when the final buzzer sounded at Eddie Robinson Stadium. It was a sigh of relief for many when the scoreboard showed the Grambling Tigers: 47, Mississippi Valley State: 40.

This was not only a victory in the record books, but a victory for the hearts and minds of players, alumni and fans that maybe something is turning around at the historically black college.

With their victory, Grambling snaps a 18-game losing streak that stretched back to 2011, and a 15-game SWAC losing streak.

Junior quarterback Johnathan Williams threw had a seven touchdown afternoon, five passing, and two rushing.

This was the first time since 2009 that Grambling scored 45 points against Texas Southern.

This week, the Tigers will travel to Pine Bluff, Arkansas to battle the UAPB Golden Lions on Saturday.
