The Byrd Yellow Jackets, coached by Mike Suggs, are off to a 3-0 start after defeating the Calvary Cavaliers 48-21 Thursday evening.

It has many in the area thinking about a trip to the Superdome later in the year.

Byrd's Louis Mills scored three touchdowns in the game en route to Byrd's blowout of Calvary.

The Cavs drop to 0-3 for the first time since organized football returned to the school in 2005.

This was the first ever meeting between the two schools. Byrd and Calvary are scheduled to play in 2014.

Calvary got on the board first halfway into the first quarter. From that point on, Byrd would go on to score 42 unanswered points.

Tysen Hardman would help Byrd during that 28 point streak with a 15 yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

The Jackets would get an extra 45 minutes of rest at halftime, as the game was delayed due to lightning in the area.

The delay was the jolt Louis Mills would need to score his third touchdown of the game, right out of the gate in the third quarter to give Byrd at 35-7 advantage.

Late in the third quarter Byrd's Keven Starks would add to the score with a 2 yard touchdown run, the Jackets took a 42-7 lead.

When the buzzer sounded, the Jackets won by the final score of 48-14.

The Jackets will take on Mansfield at home next Thursday from Lee Hedges Stadium.
