Don is a small, low-end tropical storm that has a couple of days over the warm Gulf waters to strengthen before likely reaching the central or southern Texas coast Friday night or very early Saturday morning. The most likely landfall intensity is a tropical storm. A hurricane at landfall cannot be completely ruled out, though, especially since small tropical storms can go up or down in strength more quickly than larger storms. The upper-level wind pattern is marginally conducive for strengthening.
