[Watch] Strange Lights Seen Over Lafayette Memorial Day Weekend

If you happened to look up at the sky this past Memorial Day weekend, you may be wondering what those strange lights zipping around were. We're wondering too, and it seems like we now know.

We received a video and pictures from a listener this past weekend showing multiple, unidentified objects seemingly zipping around over Lafayette the night of 05/30/21.

As you can see in the photo, it was a pretty clear night. The lights in question appeared as a string of lights, one after the other as they traveled through the night sky. You can see the stars appearing as stationary round-like objects, just like you would expect.

However, look in the center of the picture and you'll see three streaking lights, appearing much differently than the stars around them,

Now, in the video, you'll see it actually seems like multiple lights, all strung together, traveling through the sky.

Kinda looks like Santa making a pass.

Whatever this was, all of the lights definitely appear to related to each other somehow.

Below are a couple of screencaps I took from the video. In the second photo, I used the auto-adjust color function in IrfanView. By doing this, you can see the lights in the sky are in a pretty darn straight line, and the lights seem to be fairly equidistant from each other.

Aliens? Alien attack? It doesn't seem so but does have something to do with great internet speeds.

KATC looked into it after receiving multiple calls this past Sunday night, and they report what everyone saw was SpaceX launching Starlink satellites. Starlink satellites provide "global broadband coverage for high-speed internet access, particularly for people across the world in rural and remote areas" according to KATC.

Obviously, UFOs and aliens would be much more interesting than internet satellites, but it's still pretty amazing to see!
