The Vanderbilt Commodores are your 2019 College Baseball World Series Champions! They defeated the Michigan Wolverines 8-2 on Wednesday night capturing their second National Title with their first coming in 2014. Freshman starting pitcher Kumar Rocker was named the Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series.

This one began a bit rocky for Vandy starter Mason Hickman as he allowed three consecutive hits to Michigan in which they plated a run and were continuing to threaten in the top of the first with nobody out. However, he settled in from there striking out the heart of the Wolverine batting order to extinguish the fire.

From there Vanderbilt would take over the game in the early innings scoring one in the second to tie the game, three in the third and two in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead. At that point, they wouldn't look back and the game was out of reach.

Hickman ended up throwing six innings allowing only four hits, one run, three walks and struck out 10 for his ninth win of the season to make him a perfect 9-0.

Jake Eder came out of the bullpen and finished out the final three innings for the Commodores surrendering only two hits and one run for his fourth save of the season.

On the Michigan side of things, the night didn't go well for starter Karl Kauffman as he struggled through three innings of work. In those three innings, he allowed just three hits but walked five and gave up five runs. The free stuff will kill ya.

Jeff Criswell came in for relief and gave it all he had for five innings but he even surrendered six hits and three runs while striking out seven.

Offensively the middle of the order woke up and was carried by Phillip Clarke's 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI. As well as, two RBI nights apiece from Pat Demarco and Stephen Scott.

Congratulation on a great season for both of these programs, it was an extremely entertaining College World Series all the way around.
