What's that old saying..."April showers bring May flowers". Well, April is starting off with more than showers. Today, there's a strong chance of severe storms that include hail and tornadoes. In fact, the National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Tornado Watch for our area until 8 pm this evening.

A tornado watch has been issued for our entire forecast area until 8 PM CDT.

In case you don't know the difference between a tornado watch and tornado warning, here's the definition according to the NWS:

Be Prepared! Tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area. Review and discuss your emergency plans and check supplies and your safe room. Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued or you suspect a tornado is approaching. Acting early helps to save lives! Watches are issued by the Storm Prediction Center for counties where tornadoes may occur. The watch area is typically large, covering numerous counties or even states.

The Weather Channel says that we should expect strong damaging winds, hail and severe thunderstorms that could produce over an inch of rain today. So, even if we don't see any tornados in the area, there's still the strong possibility of damaging weather. So, be prepared and plan for some extreme conditions until this evening.
