A week after the hearts of Tiger players and fans faithfully dropped from a 21-17 loss to their bitter rivals the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Bayou Bengals looked to show the nation that loss will not send them under.

LSU sophomore quarterback Zach Mettenberger rebounded, throwing two touchdown passes.

It was a victory of some of some sorts, on and off the field. Before LSU took to the gridiron, they learned of Alabama's stunning 29-24 loss to the SEC newcomers, Texas A&M Aggies.

Throwing things back to Baton Rouge, the Mississippi State Bulldogs attacked the end zone first, when former Haughton Buccaneer Dak Prescott threw a 9 yard strike to Marcus Green.

LSU kicker Drew Alleman responded to the earlier touchdown by the Bulldogs with a 28 yard field goal, with only :11 remaining in the 1st quarter.

Score: 7-3 (Mississippi State)

To start of the scoring for the 2nd quarter, Drew Alleman was able to kick a 26 yard field goal, to trim the Bulldogs lead.

It was the beginning of a great night in Death Valley for quarterback Zach Mettenberger, he hurled a 19 yard pass to Jarvis Landry for the Tigers' first touchdown of the game.

There was plenty of action in the remaining seconds of the half. First, Bulldogs kicker Devon Bell made a long 47 yard field goal to make the contest interesting.

To make things even more interesting, with :13 left in the half, Spencer Ware catches a 20 yard pass from Zach Mettenberger for another touchdown.

Score: 20-10 (LSU)

Starting off the 2nd half, Bulldogs quarterback Tyler Russell throws a 14 yard pass Chad Bumphis for a Bulldog touchdown.

It turned out to be a good and productive day for Drew Alleman's leg, as he kicks another long field goal, this time for 41 yards.

It was a thrilling end to the 4th quarter for the Tigers. JC Copeland says hello to the end zone for a short 1 yard touchdown run.

Score: 30-17 (LSU)

The most exciting play of the game perhaps took place at the tail end of the contest, with 1:13 remaining. LSU's Craig Loston caught an interception and returned the ball for 100 yards!

Final Score: 37-17 (LSU)
