The New Orleans Pelicans have completed their surprising sweep of the Portland Trailblazers, and they did it in style. The Pels ended the series on their home court last night by a final score of 131-123.

Super star Anthony Davis led the way for the Pelicans with 47 points, while Jrue Holiday wasn't too far behind, checking in with 41 points of his own. This was the second consecutive game that Davis has found scoring help from his teammates.

The Trailblazers were the higher seed in the playoffs, but that has come to mean little in the NBA. Teams who are clearly ahead of others often rest down the stretch, or hold back throughout the season, and end up with a lower seed. That's not what these Pelicans are though.

The Pels have had to fight all season, especially after losing All Star Demarcus Cousins to a career threatening injury. But the team battled down the stretch, and are seeing that momentum carry into the playoffs.

But the fun might be over soon. Because the Pelicans will now have to take of the fabled Golden State Warriors...well, they likely will. As of this writing, the Warriors are up 3-0 in their series with the San Antonio Spurs, and have a chance to close it out today.

If the Warriors do end the Spurs season, it will be a battle of the standard vs the upstarts. Either way, the next round should be interesting.
