The Original On-Screen Supergirl Is Coming To Shreveport
Geek'd Con, Shreveport's biggest comic and pop culture convention, is back for 2018. August 17-19 at the Shreveport Convention Center in Downtown Shreveport.
For the last few years, Geek'd Con has been Shreveport's version of a "comic con", bringing in guests like Elvira Mistress of the Dark (Cassandra Peterson), Lou Ferrigno, Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), Tara Reid, comic book legend George Perez, Joey Fatone, Billy West, and a ton of other huge geek celebrities.
We already know that this year's Geek'd Con will feature the original TV Flash, John Wesley Shipp, along with child star Jonathan Lipnicki, and voice actor Dana Snyder. Now we know who the next person joining him on the lineup is.
The original on-screen Supergirl, Helen Slater is coming to Shreveport for Geek'd Con!
Slater stared in the 1984 cult classic SuperGirl, making her the first woman to ever play the character on screen.
But Helen's time in the Super-universe didn't end with her SuperGirl role. In the 2000s, she appeared in the TV series Smallville as Lara-El. Recently she appeared in a recurring role on the new SuperGirl TV series as Eliza Danvers, the adoptive mother of SuperGirl.
She's also voiced Martha Kent in multiple animated DC Comics releases. But she's also got a chance to play another DC Comic classic, in her only comic book villain role, as Talia al Ghul in Batman: The Animated Series.
Some of her other memorable roles came in films like City Slickers, The Legend of Billie Jean, Ruthless People, and TV shows like Seinfeld, Gigantic, and Grey's Anatomy.
