Closely guarded details on an alleged fight earlier this month at a Texas Whataburger between two public school superintendents have finally come to the surface.  The heavily redacted police reports outlining the altercation have revealed that this could be the most Texas thing you will read all week.

According to the El Paso Times, Ysleta Independent School District Superintendent Xavier De La Torre allegedly headbutted Socorro ISD Superintendent Jose Espinoza around 1 a.m. June 13 at a San Antonio Whataburger.  Espinoza and an eyewitness told officers with the San Antonio Police that he responded by punching his attacker (De La Torre) in the face, knocking him to the ground.  De La Torre was detained until Espinoza refused to press assault charges.  The two were in San Antonio for an educational leadership conference.

For weeks, the issue flew under the radar.  Both parties refused to acknowledge that the fight even occurred, but when police reports were made public and news outlets started asking some pretty pointed questions - school officials from both districts launched investigations.  According to a statement from the president of the Ysleta Independent School District board to El Paso news station KVIA, he anticipates the board will act "soon."
