Many hockey fans in the area rejoiced on Saturday night when the Louisiana Ice Gators and the Mississippi River Kings dropped the puck.

It was a sight fans here have not seen since the now defunct Mudbugs last played a home game in April 2011, the same year they won the title.

If Saturday night proved anything, it is that the ball is rolling on a hockey franchise returning to an area that lost hope in all sports, once all three of the town's sports franchises either folded or left within a year.

The commissioner of the Southern Professional Hockey League (which houses the two teams that played on Saturday) spoke with The Tiger about the huge possibility of a team returning to town. According to Combs, this possibility is good.
