Today is Ground Hog Day, which mean's Punxsutawney Phil gets to predict whether there will be six more weeks of winter.  The answer,  if you believe the Groundhog legend,  is that Phil came out of his little hole, saw his shadow and winter is not yet over.

According to the Associated Press,  Phil's prediction is determined ahead of time by the Inner Circle -  a group which puts on top hats and tuxedos and decides in advance what the groundhog will predict.

It's a perfect time for merchants to sale price their winter clothes, and it seems to work every year.  I'm thinking the inner circle is made up of local merchants.

The annual event is held at Gobbler's Knob in western Pennsylvania.

One of the funniest movies ever made is "Ground Hog Day," starring Bill Murray.  He plays a meterologist who keeps waking up to the same day, Ground Hog Day and he has to keep covering the Punxsutawney Phil story.
