With the NAHL playoffs on the horizon, the Shreveport Mudbugs are getting hot at just the right time.

Actually, getting hot would be an understatement when you look at the Mudbugs' recent body of work. Going into this past weekend, the 'Bugs were riding high on a 6-game win-streak. Winning six in a row in any league is no easy feat. That's not all, the Mudbugs also became the first team from the South division to clinch a playoff spot a few weeks ago.

With restrictions lifted in Louisiana, the boys were giving large crowds to perform in front of this weekend at George's Pond, and man, they did not let us down. Taking on the Odessa Jackalopes both Friday and Saturday night, the 'Bugs were looking to further establish their dominance within the division. On Alumni weekend, they did just that.

Friday night's crowd was a little smaller than expected due to the incoming sever weather in our area, but the 'Bugs put on a show and won in regulation with a score of 4-2. This was a close game with the score tied at two with just two minutes remaining. The 'Bugs got the go-ahead goal and an empty-net goal to close out the game.

Saturday night featured a much bigger crowd and a much more explosive performance. The Mudbugs scored a total of eight goals during Saturday night's contest, which would be similar to a football team scoring 80 points. It just doesn't happen very often. This game also featured a brutal fight, which is a rarity in the NAHL. The 'Bugs ended up getting the win 8-4.

The Shreveport Mudbugs have a little less than a month of regular season hockey left. They are currently riding on an 8-game win-streak with a tough three-game stretch in New Mexico this weekend.
