Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is on the way this August. But if you really need to get your comic con fix before that, this weekend is your chance.

Starting Friday, CyPhaCon is returning to the Lake Charles Civic Center. It's a 3-day event, that is a combination of Anime, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and gaming. The event has been running since 2011, and in the past has featured celebrity guests like Julian Glover, Sonny Strait, Chuck Huber, Tony Amendola, Monica Rial, Robert Axelrod, and many more.

This year's CyPhaCon boasts one of their best lineups ever. Headlined by special effects master Doug Jones. Who was the star of the Academy Award Winner for Best Picture, The Shape of Water. He was also a major part of another Academy Award Winning film, Pan's Labyrinth.

Jones also has some major comic book cred on his resume too. He played The Silver Surfer in the 2007 movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer as well as Abe Sapien in the Hellboy movie franchise.

His sci-fi creds are incredible to, including playing the Imps in Doom (the movie) and his current role as Captain Saru in Star Trek: Discovery.

Other guests for this year include voice actor Eric Vale, and Tim Russ from Star Trek and Spaceballs, and the lead from Night of the Living Dead (1990) Patricia Tallman.

This is going to be a great geek event, full of celebrities, cosplay, games, vendors, and more. With Lake Charles being just a couple hours south of Shreveport, local geeks could easily make the drive down to enjoy the show. Even if it just for a day.

History Of Geek'd Con Guests

Geek'd Con is Shreveport's biggest comic and pop culture event. Launching in 2015, the event quickly became one of the premiere comic con style events in the entire state of Louisiana.

A big part of that growth has been the celebrity guest lineups. Since the first show in 2015, the quality of guests attending Geek'd Con rivals any pop culture event of this size. From classic Star Wars stars to guests from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Geek'd Con has welcomed the biggest names from multiple generations. Here's a look at the history of guests at Geek'd Con.
