Shreveport Councilman Willie Bradford says community leaders need to do more to fight crime.

Bradford wants the Mayor to call in the Sheriff to help patrol our city. But Mayor Tyler says she does not need the council to tell her how to do her job.

Former Mayor Cedric Glover is also getting in on the discussion about crime. He posted this on our KEEL Facebook page:

The last year the crime fighting strategy from my administration was in place was 2015. In that year Shreveport suffered 28 total homicides, the third fewest ever in the history of the city. The city endured 46 total in 2016 and there are 23 so far in 2017.

Bradford says crime numbers are up in almost every category. Violence is also up in many neighborhoods.

What do you think about the proposal to ask the Sheriff for help. Take the poll and let us know your opinion.
