Shreveport-Bossier is expected to get a basketball franchise from the American Basketball Association. Southeast Texas Mavericks owner Jerry Nelson Jr. will likely announce on Thursday the relocation of his team from Winnie, TX to Shreveport-Bossier.

The Mavericks won back to back ABA championships in 2010 and 2011.

The team's past players include former Centenary guard Mike Gale.  Last season's roster was comprised of players whose college careers ranged from small schools like the Southland Conference's Lamar University, to mid-major programs like Wichita State and even major program's like Louisville.

ABA play will begin in November.
