In a ruling last week, the high court in Onterio, Canada found most of the nation’s laws governing prostitution unconstitutional. The Canadian parliament now has a year to amend the criminal code and the final result could be a fairly broad legalization of prostitution by our neighbor to the north.

According to a poll of 1,004 Canadians by Ipsos, the majority would be OK with this development.
Twenty-one percent of the poll’s respondents said that they strongly agreed prostitution within brothels should be legal, and 44 percent said they somewhat agreed.

On the other side, 20 percent said they strongly disagreed with the court’s decision and 15 percent somewhat disagreed.
