Suspensions of Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith of the New Orleans Saints were upheld yesterday by Roger Goodell for their part in the bounty scandal. However, Goodell reduced penalties for Scott Fujita and Anthony Hargrove.

Goodell made it clear that he will stand by his decision to suspend Vilma for the entire season and Smith is suspended for four games.

Vilma tweeted, "this is not news to me pride won't let him admit he's wrong."

Vilma's attorney said, "Goodell continues his previous grossly misplaced interpretation of the 'evidence. What the Commissioner did today is not justice, nor just. The suspension has the fingerprints of lawyers trying to fit a square peg into a round hole."

The players have three days to appealing again.
