Rocky Mountain Runs: Colorado Scores 11 In Arlington
The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the Texas Rangers are playing, is "offense". Well, they had some of that stellar offense in this game, the problem was...the Colorado Rockies had more.
The visiting Rockies came out of their dugout swinging, Jason Giambi (yes, he still plays baseball) singled to left to bring home Jonathan Herrera, to make the score 1-0 in the top of the 1st.
We take you to the top of the 4th inning where former Minnesota Twins great Michael Cuddyer, now playing with the Rockies doubles to right to bring home Jonathan Herrera once again, as well as Jordan Pacheco. By this time, the Rockies have a commanding 8-0 lead!
In the bottom of the 4th, Nelson Cruz hit a bomb to left to put the Rangers on the board, now it's 8-1.
The Rockies had an answer to Cruz's homer the very next inning, Wil Nieves hits a two-run blast to centerfield, and the very next batter after Nieves, Dexter Fowler, hits a bomb of his own to center field! By now, the game is just getting out of control, 11-1.
But...the Rangers rally for SIX runs in the bottom of the 5th! That rally included a two-run homer courtesy of Nelson Cruz to plate Adrian Beltre and Michael Young! Okay...now it's a ballgame, with the score 11-7!
But after the bottom of the 5th inning, there was a power outage in Arlington, not in the great town of Arlington, but on the diamond. Rockies relief pitching was able to shut down the Rangers (which is a very hard thing to do, so kudos to them).
The Rockies wind up winning today by the score of 11-7.
Will the Rangers end interleague play on a high note, but sending the Rockies back home with a loss? Find out tomorrow at 6:05 p.m.!
