Rangers Neftali Feliz has made it clear that he wants his old job of closer back. The pitcher stated that he is only preparing for that position. The last time Felix was a closer was in Game 6 of the 2011 World Series. He was then moved into the rotation after Texas acquired Joe Nathan. Now that Nathan is with Detroit, Feliz could return to his role of closer.

Rangers Jurickson Profar was given the ok to throw by team physicians however, feelings of discomfort on Monday will prevent him from throwing for another week. This will also push back his ability to play second base in the Cactus League games to the second or third week in March. General manager Jon Daniels said there not a lot of room for another setback if Profar wants to play on Opening Day. Full squad workouts for the team begin on Thursday.

The Rangers aren’t taking any chances this early in spring training when it comes to the health of their pitching rotation. Matt Harrison mentioned his neck was feeling stiff and the club took him off of the list to throw live batting practice. General manager Jon Daniels says they’ll take it easy with the left handed pitcher. Harrison is listed as day to day.
