Professional hockey is coming back to Shreveport/Bossier... if only for a day.  The SPHL announced that the Louisiana Icegators and the Huntsville Havoc will play a pre-season exhibition game at the CenturyLink Center.

Today, the Southern Professional Hockey League made this announcement.

The Southern Professional Hockey League today announced it is bringing professional hockey back to Bossier-Shreveport as the Louisiana IceGators will host the Huntsville Havoc in a pre-season exhibition game on Saturday, October 20.  The game will be played at the CenturyLink Center, with the face-off at 7:00 p.m.

The exhibition game is being played as part of the “Hockey With George” weekend, sponsored by the Junior Mudbugs Youth Hockey League.  The event is being held to honor the memory of George Cloutier, a Shreveport youth hockey player who passed away in 2008.

“We are excited for the opportunity to bring the SPHL to Bossier-Shreveport and would like to thank the CenturyLink Center for making it possible,” said SPHL President Jim Combs.  “We have heard from numerous Mudbugs fans over the past year asking the SPHL to bring a team to the CenturyLink Center.  Hopefully, this will be the first step in making those requests a reality.”

Tickets will be available from the CenturyLink Center box office or from ticketmaster.com beginning next week.  Pricing will be $12.00 for adults, $8.00 for children ages 5-17 and free for children under age 5.  Seats near the glass will be available at $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children.

In conjunction with the exhibition game, the Junior Mudbugs will be hosting a youth hockey tournament on Saturday and Sunday.  Teams from Lafayette, Little Rock and Dallas will be in attendance.
