I know professional athletes make good money, especially the really good athletes, like MVP and Super Bowl winner, Peyton Manning. But are they really worth $96 million?
That's a bit of a stretch to me.

Denver Broncos Introduce Peyton Manning

Manning's salary negotiated with the Denver Broncos will even dwarf Super Bowl quarterback Tom Brady's by about a million dollars. Today's salaries are at least a thousand percent higher than what the best NFL quarterbacks were getting in the 70s.

Quarterbacks then were getting hundreds of thousands of dollars, not millions. Now, I love to watch a good game of football, but no athlete, I don't care who it is or how many Super Bowls they've won is worth $96 million. I'm a Peyton Manning fan, but I think we've lost our senses. What do you think? Is Manning's salary too high and what would be a reasonable salary for a star quarterback today?
