Murder in North Shreveport – Suspect on the Run
A Shreveport man is dead and police are on the hunt for the suspect.
The shooting happened in north Shreveport just before 9pm Tuesday night at a home in the 3000 block of Terry Street in the Martin Luther King neighborhood.
Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Lavell Blake of Shreveport. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shreveport Police issued this statement:
Based on information collected during the initial stages of the investigation, it is believed that Blake was standing outside in the Terry Street home’s driveway, when he was shot by an unknown assailant or assailants. It is not yet clear whether or not the offender was in a vehicle or on foot at the time of the shooting. Police have not gathered a description of a suspect at this hour, but are confident information related to the suspect’s description and identity may be known by persons in the neighborhood. While no definitive ties have been established at this point, Investigators are working to determine if this incident may in some way be linked to an earlier shooting in east Shreveport Tuesday morning where a man was gunned down.
