One year ago, many folks could not enjoy time with Mom for Mother's Day. We were in the midst of a nationwide pandemic. So many people could not take Mom out for dinner or even go visit her for the special day. This year we can try to make up for it. Mother's Day is May 9th and it will probably be one of the busiest days of the year at area restaurants. It is typically the busiest restaurant day of the year anyway, but this year will be even bigger.

In its most recent report prior to the pandemic, The National Restaurant Association predicted more than 92 million American's would dine out on Mother's Day. That number is expected to be close to 100 million this year.

Local restaurants are already gearing up and taking reservations for Mother's Day.

Because restaurant seating might be hard to find, lots of folks will shift the schedule for the day. About 10% say they will take Mom out for breakfast. 25% will try to do brunch with Mom. 45% will dine out at lunch and 47% are planning to do dinner with Mom.

By the way, the number 1 gift for Mom is having a meal with her. That can include taking her out or having her over and cooking for her.

Moms will tell you what she really wants for Mother's Day is time with her children and rest and relaxation.
