The pandemic had a ton of negative repercussions, but one positive it gave us was a shorter Mudbugs offseason.

Even without a global pandemic, the Shreveport Mudbugs always had relatively short offseasons. With their seasons generally going an extra month or so thanks to playoff success, we've never had to wait too long to get back to the hockey we all love.

This offseason, however, will feel like a blink f an eye. Due to the pandemic, the NAHL started their season a couple of months later than usual but opted to run a full season from that point. As you all know, the Shreveport Mudbugs won the NAHL Robertson Cup national championship a little over a month ago. Now, we're gearing up for the upcoming season already, and I absolutely love it.

The season will kick off in late August, meaning training camp is set to begin in early August.

Ahead of training camp, Mudbugs fans will have an awesome opportunity this weekend to meet the 2021-2022 potential Mudbugs hockey team. Of course, I say potential because not every player at training camp will name the team. The fans will also be excited to celebrate last season's national championship with the returning players who will be coming back to town to defend their prize this upcoming season.

The Meet and Eat event will be held this Sunday, August 8th, at the Nicky's on E Texas Street in Bossier City. The event will kick off at 5:00 PM and fans will get a chance to see the Robertson Cup in person.
