Here's a challenging case for Dr. Drew. A 47-year-old British man is hooked on sausage.

David Harding, who has eaten sausage in some form every day for the last 42 years, is so desperate to kick the unusual addiction that he has undergone therapy to cut the food out of his diet.

Harding's love of sausage and desire to put an end to the romance has cost him some serious bacon. That's because he has shelled out the equivalent of $3,300 in the hopes of overcoming his love of the product. That's nothing, though, compared to the nearly $1,200 he spends each year stocking up on the food. He's even bought himself a freezer just to hold his favorite brand of sausage, McWhinneys Irish pork sausage.

Harding said, "I genuinely cannot bear the thought of living without sausages. Drug addicts crave their medicine of choice, and it's the same for me -- except that my drug is a banger," employing the British slang for the cuisine.

Harding says he realized he may be a little too dependent on the culinary delight one day last year when his wife failed to serve any up with their dinner, leaving him "completely off-track."

In addition to the counseling, Harding has also visited a hypnotist, but still no dice. He says he plans to seek other ways to get his addiction under control. Let's hope he figures it out before his clogged arteries step in, first.
